Fissure type of eruption occurs along faults and fractures. There is a slow up-welling of magma and the resultant lava spread over the ground surface. Here, it must be mentioned that the fractures are parallel to the ground surface, and that’s why fractures are not directly connected with the magma chamber. Thus, the volcanic cone is totally absent in fissure eruption. Lava come out through the cracks and spread over large area and generally produce table shaped plateau. For an example: Deccan plateau in India.
